Coin canisters placed in 52 businesses in the Camas-Washougal area generated $3,102 during the 2008-09 fiscal year that ends today. Canisters are typically placed near the checkout counter and encourage shoppers to drop in their spare change to help provide hot meals to homebound seniors served by the Camas-Washougal Loaves & Fishes Center.
The top 10 locations that generated the most funds included Diary Queen, Fern Prairie Market, Arco AM/PM, Minit Mart Shell Gas, Camas Hilltop Market, 76 Station Mini Mart on E. 15th, LJC Feed Store, Chevron Gas on Hwy 14, PS Sanks & Associates and Chevron Gas on 3rd.
Manager Ross Jonak is seeking additional locations for coin canisters for the upcoming fiscal year. If you are interested in having a canister at your place of business, please contact Ross at 360.210.5666. The goal is to raise $4,000 during 2009-10.
Since 1970 Loaves & Fishes Centers has provided a nutritional and social lifeline for seniors through 30 meal sites in Multnomah, Washington and Clark counties and Meals-On-Wheels delivery to homebound seniors.
